Could anyone give me some insight on what specifications I should have to fluently run After Effects? I wanted to switch over from Vegas, but my computer is getting the meat.

Some modifications at Edit > Preferences > Memory, can make a big difference.

Well it Depends on which version u want to use if u are willing to use the CC versions then 8 gb won't be enough for you AE including Plugins and alot of thing 16 or 12 gb would be meh but u can always change the Ram u want to be used by adobe products.
